20 Favorite Purchases from 2020

It is crazy to think that 2021 is just DAYS away. I feel like 2021 is something we’ve all been anxiously anticipating, and are looking forward to…at least that’s how I feel. That said, despite living through a global pandemic this year, we still managed to make plenty of purchases while sitting at home all day.

Whenever I make a purchase of any kind, I like to evaluate it’s cost-per-wear. If it is a pricier item, I consider the number of times I might wear it, or occasions in which I’d wear the item, prior to purchasing. If I can justify the cost-per-wear, I think it is money well spent. I am also the type of person who falls in love with an item, and buys it in every color…which you’ll see below. Of course, did I NEED any of these things? No, but it was nice to treat myself to some goodies after the year we’ve had.

Park Slope Turtleneck: If you watch my Instagram stories, you’ll know how obsessed I am with the Dudley Stephens Park Slope turtleneck. I love them so much, I own 6! I just love how easy they are to throw on and wear. Plus they can be dressed down with joggers or leggings, or up with jeans and a cute pair of shoes! I am going to write an entire blog post on the differences between the fleece fabrics and why I love Dudley, but for now just know you cannot go wrong! I wear a size medium (their sizing runs small, in my opinion).

Sue Sartor Paloma Dress: Where do I begin with my beloved Sue Sartor dresses? First of all, right off the bat you’ll see how insanely beautiful these dresses are. It all began for me with this dress, and the rest was history. Similar to the Dudley Stephens pullovers, once I find something I love, I feel like I need multiples of it. I love Sue Sartor dresses because they are easy and comfortable, yet timeless and will forever be a staple in my wardrobe. Her Paloma style is a best seller for a reason! Overnight Resurfacing Peel: I know you’re SHOCKED to see this next item on this list. But really, the Beautycounter overnight resurfacing peel has changed the game for my skin. I recommend it to almost anyone because it seems to suit everyone’s skin so well. It has helped even my skin tone, reduce breakouts, brighten my complexion and so much more! I use this beloved product every-other night on my dry, acne-prone, sensitive skin!

The Bomb Pop Jeans: These. Jeans. OMG! I had been eyeing these AYR jeans for several months before I finally decided to pull the trigger. They are definitely a bit pricier than I like to spend on denim, but based on the reviews I knew I needed to give them a try. What really sold me was the option for LONGER INSEAMS! This particular style from AYR comes with the option to select the inseam on your pants, which is amazing for tall gals! I had been looking for the perfect pair of straight leg/cropped jeans that didn’t look like capris on my long legs (5’9” but all leg). I went with the 29in inseam for my jeans and they are PERFECTION! I wear a size 25-26 in jeans, and went with the 26 for these. I probably could’ve gone with a 25 since there is some stretch, but they feel like heaven when I wear them.

Goop Scalp Scrub: Here’s one product I NEVER thought I needed, until it was sent to me and I FELL IN LOVE. I will buy this product again and again as long as it is in stock because it is just amazing. Not only does this non-toxic shampoo get CRAZY FOAMY (can be hard to find in natural hair products), but it helps detoxify and remove gunk and buildup from your hair. I also feel like it helps keep my hair clean for an extra day when I wash with it. I use this once a week as my primary shampoo and just follow up with my regular conditioner. Plus, I have had my shampoo tub for well over 8 months. So while it is a little pricy, you only need a little bit and it lasts FOREVER! I probably have 1-2 months left of product left in mine.

Hyaluronic Acid Body Serum: It was hard not to include MORE Necessaire products on this list, because I’ve seriously loved everything. I’d say my favorites are their fragrance-free body lotion, body exfoliator and hand cream, but my ALL TIME FAVORITE is the Body Serum. It is made with hyaluronic acid, aka the master plumper and moisturizer! Want to know where I exclusively use this product? On my bum and the backs of my legs! I SWEAR this has reduced the appearance of cellulite in the back of my legs and on my butt. Seriously. It also makes your skin crazy soft. I am hooked. I have another bottle ready to go once my current runs out.

Gel Kayano Sneakers: With sneakers I’ve learned, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! I used to have the hardest time finding sneakers I loved for my walks. Many of the “trendy” brands’ products would cause my feet to go numb, or cause pain in my shins or ankles. No bueno when you walk as much as I do. I finally gave in and went with Asics because I knew they were reliable, comfortable and well-made. Welp, I’ve now ordered 3 pairs of these shoes because they are just so great for my feet! I have had the Gel Kayano 24, 25 (twice) and will be ordering the 26 (linked) next. Yale also wears them. You cannot go wrong. Runs true to size.

Lululemon Short Sleeve Tee: I LOVE this comfortable seamless workout shirt so much, that I have multiples of it! I’m telling you, when I find something I like, I need it more than once! Comfortable, lightweight and breathable, this is my go-to workout top in the warmer months. The perforated material makes it perfect for hot days. I wear a size 4.

Unseen Sunscreen: I adore this sunscreen. Is that weird to say? One of my biggest issues with most cleaner sunscreens is that they are thick, leave a white cast and break me out. Thankfully, none of those are an issue with this sunscreen from Supergoop. It is a CLEAR sunscreen that leaves your skin feeling soft and dry, not oily. Plus, it is reef-safe making it a great option to wear at the beach in addition to daily use.

Oura Ring: When Oura launched their limited edition gold Heritage ring, I knew it was time. I had been eyeing the Oura ring ever since I heard Angi Fletcher talk about it on her stories. But I didn’t love their permanent collection of colors. Once they released gold I snatched it up as fast as I could and I am THRILLED to have this piece of wearable tech in my life. This has already made such a big difference in my sleep routines because it gives data showing me HOW well I am sleeping. For example, I knew drinking alcohol doesn’t help you sleep (although many people claim it does), but with the Oura ring I am able to see how it increases my heart rate, causes me to toss and turn, and overall just hinders my sleep. Truly obsessed with this thing and I hope they have an affiliate program up and running again soon! Buy their ring sizer. The sizing is not true to typical ring sizes due to the sensors inside the ring. I wear a size 8 on my index finger.

Dime Beauty Lash Duo: Mascara is one of those personal things that is unique to each individual. We all have our preferences in terms of lash wands, consistency, whether the product is buildable, etc. I have seriously fallen in love with the Dime Beauty Super Eye Duo. The mascara is amazing for creating super long, full lashes, and I’ve noticed a crazy difference in the length and volume in my lashes thanks to their non-toxic lash serum. Use my code amh20 for a discount at checkout!

Oversized Sunglasses: Considering I have 4 pairs of these glasses, you know I love them. And I recently found them on Amazon at a crazy low price ($14!!). They are such a flattering shape and I love the tortoise shell frames. I get compliments on them every time I wear them! Such a good buy.

Adaptive Moisture Lotion: My skin is so grateful to have found this lightweight moisturizer. I previously used Vanicream Light Lotion which I loved, but I knew some of its ingredients weren’t ideal (PEGs, BHT). I was apprehensive to switch but trusted my friends who used the Adaptive Moisture Lotion from Beautycounter, and MAN am I glad I listened! My skin LOVES this. It is super lightweight so doesn’t clog my pores. Perfect moisturizer for daytime.

Osea Body Oil: I purchased this body oil to deeply moisture my dry winter skin. I am OBSESSED! It smells absolutely amazing (fresh and citrusy), absorbs nicely, and makes my skin super soft and moisturized. If you are looking for a great body oil, look no further. This non-toxic option will be a staple for me all winter long.

Dudley Stephens Scrunchies: Scrunchies are back, baby! When Dudley Stephens launched these scrunchies I immediately purchased two (the blush and the neon pink). They’ve lived positioned in my hair ever since! Super soft vello fleece means no hair breakage. They are perfection. I own 3.

Daily Ritual Joggers: 2020 has been the year of loungewear, and I am not mad about it. I purchased two pairs of these joggers and they are heaven. Since I am tall, like jeans, it can be hard to find joggers that are long enough for me. This pair is the best I’ve ever found, and the price means you can own multiples! Looking for perfect cozy joggers? Look no further! And they come in eight colors! I want pink next!! I wear a size XS.

Caddis Miklos Blue Light Blocking Glasses: I had a difficult time finding blue light blocking glasses that I liked, until my aunt Julia told me about these. And when I saw Gwyneth Paltrow wore them, I was totally sold! I own the non-prescription options, but they are great if you require reading glasses or a prescription. I have the colors Raw Honey and Matte Bone.

Soludos Mules: After seeing these on many an Instagram ad, I finally purchased them because they were just too cute. I have LIVED in these with my AYR jeans since they arrived. Versatile and super comfortable. I love that they come in a bunch of colors and materials. Run true to size.

Verb Energy Bars: I felt like everyone and their mother was talking about these green tea-infused energy bars this year, that I needed to see what the hype was about. Well, I’ve since ordered a pack a month since June and will continue to do so. They are the perfect little bar to get a boost of energy thanks to the green tea. I love the Vanilla Latte and Salted Peanut Butter flavors best! Plus, you can text them when you’re ready to reorder…which is amazing and dangerous all at the same time.

Lake Pajamas Tank Set: I swear 90% of my favorites posts have Lake Pajamas featured on them, but they really are amazing. I love the tank set because I am a hot sleeper. I cannot sleep in long sleeves or pants, and in the summer these were particularly amazing. Lightweight, soft pima cotton cannot be beat. I own several different sets of Lake Pajamas, but the tank set is my favorite! Runs true to size, I wear a small.
