WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!

Hi guys! I am SO EXCITED to announce that Yale and I purchased OUR FIRST HOME!!  We are SO thrilled to share our experience with you! I've been keeping this news pretty tightly under wraps, just in case something happened, but as of June 1st, we're OFFICIALLY HOMEOWNERS!!

Of course this post isn't really a "health and wellness"-related post, but since I share 90+% of my life on my Instagram and here on the blog, I wanted to share this experience with you! I had been looking for homes with our amazing realtor Louise (HIGHLY recommend her for first-time homebuyers in Baltimore!) since end of February/early March, but had my heart set on a particular location and eventually street since early in the search.

I did not anticipate we'd find our first home so quickly, but the timing seemed absolutely perfect and we were able to settle on our house earlier than I even planned (which was ideal/preferred for me). As you may or may not know, we've been living in Canton, Baltimore with roommates for the past 3 years (Yale's lived with us for the past 2), which has been incredible, but the city life wasn't really for me. It contributed to a lot of my anxiety, and I found myself looking for reasons to get out of the downtown area during our last few months of living there. I absolutely LOVED our home and our street, but the commute to and from Canton became exhausting. Yale works closer to our new house, so it didn't make sense for us to be downtown any longer. Our last 3 roommates (in total I've had 8 other roommates move in and out of our house over the last 3 years) have been absolutely wonderful, and I'll be sad to leave all of them, but they all know they're more than welcome to visit us in our new house anytime!

When searching for our first home together, Yale and I had several hopes for our new house. Since I work from home, having a bright, inviting space was crucial for me. I wanted a renovated kitchen that we wouldn't need to touch before moving in. I feel like we lucked out with our new kitchen. Eventually, we'll paint or replace the cabinets and knobs, but it totally works for now. Since our rental house kitchen was SO bright and gorgeous, I wanted our new homes' kitchen to be just as bright. I am so thankful because our new kitchen has huge windows which will be perfect for photos. Yale and I also really wanted hardwood floors, an outdoor living space, and a large master bedroom. We really felt like we were on some HGTV show with all of our requirements, but we wanted our home to be absolutely perfect. Aside from new carpet and paint, there honestly wasn't anything within the home that we really needed to change immediately. This is ideal, especially as first time homebuyers.

This experience has been so amazing and has allowed me to learn so much about #adulting and myself in general.  It certainly will be a big transition, going from renters to homeowners, but we are thrilled for this next chapter. I anticipate plenty of tears, but also expect even more laughter as Yale and I navigate this next stage in our lives. I am so excited to take you along our journey as we make our first house feel like OURS! I am thrilled I can finally share this news (it's been a BIG SECRET since April 2nd!!), and share our home progress over the next few months/years. YAY! Can't wait to share before and after pics.
