GUYS! Can we just stop for one second and talk about how excited I am for today's Boss Babe interview!?!? Who doesn't know and love Lee Tilghman of Lee from America? If you have social media, you've seen Lee's beautifully styled food posts, enviable LA apartment, and delicious matcha lattes. She hardly needs an introduction, but I am THRILLED to welcome her to the bloggy! Enjoy! xx
What is your zodiac sign? Aquarius
Tell us about how you started your blog, Lee From America! I started my original blog as a way to work through healing from my eating disorder. As time went on, it morphed into a space for me to create recipes and share them with the world. When I was diagnosed with PCOS, and was looking for a way to heal naturally, I began sharing my journey there as well.
What does a day in the life of Lee look like? I usually wake up around 6 am, drink some water and meditate, and head out for a workout. That could be Soul Cycle, HIIT at the gym, yoga, or a sunrise hike at Griffith Park. Then I get back, make my matcha latte, and get ready for the day. I spend the day creating new recipes, working to establish brand partnerships, or writing blog posts. I also love to spend time connecting with my followers and doing Instagram stories. When I wrap up my working day, I love to go for walks, meet up with friends, or just sip tea and journal.
What is the best part of what you do? The hardest part? The best part of what I do is the opportunity to connect with so many people around the world. I love to hear their stories, learn from them, and try to offer advice whenever I can. The hardest part is finding balance! My job requires me to be present 24/7, so finding a work/life balance can be tricky.
Do you have a fitness routine? I don't so much have a routine as I do a habit. I love to wake up in the morning and get moving, but I'm always switching up what I do. I make sure to get my heart pumping first thing. If I'm feeling anxious or in need of a check in later in the day, I'll roll out my mat and do a flow, or go for a walk around my neighborhood.
What is the biggest message you want to share through your platform? Taking care of yourself, through food, friendships, relationships, work balance, it's one of the most important things you can do. Knowing yourself and sticking up for yourself and using your voice. That is power.
OH, and also...
It's okay not to feel your best all the time. I think with wellness, its really easy to get obsessive and freak out if we are comparing ourselves to others/older versions of ourselves. Or to get upset if we indulge in something another influencer considers "bad".
We will stray from the path, but we will always come back to ourselves, our home.
