Jordan Younger // @thebalancedblonde
Hi my loves! It's been a minute since I've featured a new Boss Babe! So I figured I'd better get back on track with the OG babe herself! I am so pleased to welcome the incredible Jordan Younger to the blog. You may know Jordan as a blogger (formerly known as The Blonde Vegan), author, podcaster, yogi, reiki healer or all of the above. To me she is an absolute light and has become someone I look to for advice and guidance in the blogging world. I've been following Jordan since The Blonde Vegan days. LOOOONG before I had any health and wellness blogs of my own. Since those days, Jordan has transformed her blog into a mega empire, and she truly is a cornerstone within the wellness world. Jordan and I met last year at The Good Fest in Philly, and then again at Revitalize. I am so thrilled to welcome her to the blog, and Jord, I can't wait to see you in a few months ;) !! ENJOY! xoxo
Tell us a little bit about yourself (where you're from, where you live, your zodiac sign, etc.)! Hi! I'm Jordan Younger and I am from Sacramento, CA. Sometimes people have no clue where that is, but it's the capital of California. ;) LA has been home for almost ten years though... wow! Minus one year of living in NYC which was the absolute greatest. I am a LIBRA through and through, Aquarius rising, and Cancer moon. My Cancer moon explains my watery, emotional, highly sensitive side. My Libra sun basically explains everything else, hehe.
What does a day in the life of Jordan look like? Oh man! Every day is so different. Today I am still in my PJ's at noon, with Hudson (my cat) at my feet, journaling and slowly responding to emails in bed. Yesterday I was at a photo shoot by 8 a.m., recorded two podcast episodes, got acupuncture and cupping, went to a hot yoga class, and wrote two blog posts! I need that downtime to balance out the crazy days... that is what I have learned after blogging for all these years. It's all about the balance. The downtime makes the crazy days more fun, but the packed days certainly make the resting time NECESSARY and so recharging.
You are one of THE original health & wellness bloggers. What are some of your tips for people looking to get into blogging? Ahhh yes! Thank you! And you have been following since the very beginning or so it feels, so THANK YOU for being part of the tribe. My greatest tip is to love the shit out of the topic you're blogging about. You are going to be talking about it a lot, and if you want it to be your career one day that means you're going to be talking about it (and writing about it) so much that some days you might even question your passion for it... so if the passion isn't there to begin with, that's no bueno. I think passion, consistency, and visual aesthetic are everything when it comes to a blog. And engaging with your readers.
What is the biggest message you want to share through your platform? It has shifted so much over the years. It used to purely be about health, wellness, and balance. Now the biggest message I want to share is that you CAN be happy every single day. You can be madly obsessed with what you do. You can love Monday mornings just as much as Friday nights. The power to make your passion your career is 100% in your hands.
What is in store for The Balanced Blonde in 2018? Welllll, I will be spending the month of April in Bali which I am very excited about. My soul is aching to create and birth some new projects that have been in the works for a while. I am also doing an extended water fast in May to truly heal from the inside out -- as this year has been a DOOZY for my health so far and I completely believe it has to do with spiritual upleveling and being in my Saturn Return. There will definitely be a new book coming (woooo!!). And I am planning a TBB Tour (yoga and intention setting workshops!) that will kick off this summer but will really get going in early 2019. Manifestation has become a huge part of my brand lately so some of my new projects will be reflecting that... and I can't wait!
